AS A DISTRIBUTOR 

As a distributor of raw materials, Tempo Canada Inc. is committed to conducting its operations to ensure the safety and health of employees, customers, the public and the natural environment, and to fully comply with applicable regulations in all of our business activities. 

Tempo Canada Inc. is a member of CACD (Canadian Association of Chemical Distributors) and is certified under Part II of the Responsible Distribution® Code of Practice. The CACD Responsible Distribution® Code of Practice is designed specifically for the Canadian Chemical Distribution industry. It was initiated and is governed by the CACD to contribute to a safer and more responsible industry, improving performance in health, safety, the environment, and in communication with the public.

Tempo Canada Inc., as a member of the CACD, will continue to:

  • Responsibly manage business to ensure that recognized health, safety and environmental standards are met in all aspects of our distribution process.
  • Ensure that all health, safety and environmental hazards associated with company activities are identified, assessed and managed.
  • Ensure that all suppliers of service and their employees as well as Tempo employees adhere to health, safety and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Assess health, safety and environmental concerns before entering into new products, suppliers, activities or ventures.
  • Work with business-related associations, governments and public groups to promote workable codes of practice.
  • Communicate with employees, sub-distributors, suppliers of service, customers, the public and governments, on health, safety and environmental aspects of the company's operations and products.
  • Require each supplier of service, employee and sub-distributor to work and act safely at all times and respect his or her responsibility for health, safety and environmental performance.

AS YOUR SUPPLIER OF PRODUCT 

Tempo Canada Inc. effectively maintains and manages all appropriate product hazard information received from suppliers and communicates it to ensure safe handling and disposal of all our raw materials, including:

  • Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Technical Data Sheets (TDS)
  • Product Labels

In addition, Tempo Canada Inc. will include any supplementary information, which we believe to be vital to the health & safety of the customer including:

  • Safe Practices and equipment for the receipt, handling, storage, loading, offloading, labeling, placarding, transportation, emergency response, treatment and disposal
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (OH & S)
  • Transportation Act and Regulations (TDG)
  • Hazardous Materials and Products Act and Regulations - including the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Pest Control Act
  • Canadian Environmental Protection Act and Regulations 1999 (CEPA '99)
  • Any additional information available to us

TO HEALTH AND SAFETY 

At Tempo Canada Inc., our procedures and operations are designed to ensure that all applicable regulations, such as those stated in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, are met. In addition, we also have policies and procedures to 
ensure that important industry standards are met including:

Safe storage and handling of our products
Tempo Canada Inc. believes that an effective and pro-active Risk Management Program addressing safe handling, storage and distribution of our products must be the cornerstone of our policy. Adherence requires procedures be established for inspection, receipt, shipping, handling, storage, security, safety, emergency response and spill containment, in partnership with our logistics providers.

Waste Management
Our operations are conducted in such a way as to limit and manage risks involved in handling hazardous wastes. We are HWIN registered under the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and we employ the services of an  accredited waste management company, specializing in by-product management and recycling.

Emergency Response and Community Awareness
In Tempo's Emergency Response Program, it is our goal to maintain an emergency response capability that is responsive to both on-site and off-site emergencies. Our partner in this initiative, Newalta Industrial Services Inc. (formerly Philip Environmental) has an extensive network of working relationships across Canada with other contract responders and suppliers allowing them to respond effectively to most emergency situations. In addition, we are registered with the Canadian Transport Emergency Centre, CANUTEC. CANUTEC was established by Transport Canada and provides information and communications assistance in case of transport emergencies involving dangerous goods such as spills, leaks, fire or exposure.

We perform regular supplier assessments, shipping and receiving inspection, audits, employee training and promote continuous feedback and dialogue with customers and suppliers to enable us to accomplish this goal.
